AT SCIENTIFIC COLLEGE conducts education and research in health and social sciences, pedagogy, management, diakonia and  theology. The college offers around 50 study programs at bachelor, master's and PhD level and consists of approximately 4,500 students, 400 employees and study places in Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger and Sandnes.

THE VID ACTION

The VID campaign (formerly Diatøff) is VID University College's own development project. Through an action week in the autumn of 2018, the school's students collect money for a work they are passionate about. For the VID campaign 2018, the student council at VID Pursuit of Water chose its project: rain collectors.

The action week will take place on VID's campus Diakonhjemmet in Oslo in week 42, 15-19 October. Through various social events this week, students will create commitment to global water issues and raise money for our partner schools in Rwanda.

VID-aksjonen

PROJECT: RAIN COLLECTORS

According to UNICEF, 31% of the world's schools do not have access to clean water, which is also a widespread problem in Rwanda. One solution to this is to build rain collectors on the school roofs. This is how the rain is caught when it is pouring down, and then stored in large tanks where it is filtered and becomes pure water. The water can then be used in cooking, washing rooms and buildings, cups and tubs, hand washing and of course also drinking water.

Our goal is for the VID campaign to raise enough money to build rain collectors at three schools in Kigali. To achieve the best possible quality and ensure that local considerations are taken care of, Pursuit of Water collaborates with the renowned organization Water for Life, which has extensive experience of working in several African countries, including Rwanda.

JOIN

In the Action Week 15-19 October, there will be various social events at Diakonhjemmet to create commitment and raise money for the VID campaign 2018. Among other things, we plan to arrange a change of clothes market, autumn party, concert and quiz night with a café.

It is still possible to join the committee for the Action Week! Do you have any good ideas, suggestions or are you gearing up to get involved?
